Rights and obligations

If you offer care to a child, certain rights apply, but you also have a number of obligations. The OWG worker will inform you about this. Upon entering into a care contract, you will also be sent the brochure ‘Rights and obligations of foster parents’ [Rechten en plichten van opvangouders]. This brochure contains important information about the role and position of foster parents.

The mutual rights and obligations of foster parents and Nidos are recorded in the OWG contract. In article 8 of the OWG contract, the mutual agreements are made binding.

For the costs of the care of the youngster, foster parents receive a monthly foster allowance. The amount of the allowance depends on the age of the youngster. Other financial aspects are described in the financial guide which is sent to foster parents when they enter into a foster contract.
